The "Senior Pressure Ulcer Foot" training kit was specifically developed for teaching the cleaning and care of pressure ulcers at various stages. It is particularly aimed at training in the care of elderly patients, who frequently develop pressure ulcers due to limited mobility. Typical sites of development are pressure-bearing areas such as the heels, toes, or between the toes, especially where bony structures are subjected to constant pressure from shoes, socks, or bedding.
The model realistically depicts all four stages of a pressure ulcer and is therefore suitable for comprehensive and practical training in professional wound care. It supports the learning of proper assessment, care, and treatment of pressure ulcers and promotes an understanding of the respective severity of tissue damage.
Shown are a stage I pressure ulcer on the underside of a toe with a reddened, still intact skin surface, a stage II pressure ulcer on the sole of the foot below a toe with deeper skin damage, a stage III pressure ulcer on the side of the foot with a crater-shaped defect extending into deeper skin layers, and a stage IV pressure ulcer on the heel with pronounced tissue destruction involving muscle, bone, joint, and ligament structures.
The "Senior Citizen's Pressure Ulcer Foot" model features a realistic depiction of all four stages, detailed anatomical representation of the affected pressure points, and a practical design for training purposes. It is suitable for the training of nursing staff and medical personnel and supports both beginners and advanced learners in the safe management of complex wound situations.
